Plane conveying late Agagu's corpse, 20 passengers crash in Lagos


A 30-seat plane with registration number 5NBJY belonging to Associated Airlines conveying the remains of former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, crashed in Lagos this morning less than a minute after take-off from the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja. An aviation official confirmed the plane suffered engine failure after takeoff leaving 16 passengers  dead  with 5 survivors including Agagu's son receiving medical attention. Agagu's casket and the black box of the plane has also been recovered.

The ministry, through its spokesperson, Joe Obi, had, in a statement, said, “The plane had 20 passengers and seven crew members on board.”

The management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has released the names of some survivors
