The Federal Executive Council, November 28 approved N2.2 billion for the construction of new presidential banquet hall in Abuja as announced by Senator Bala Mohammed.
The proposed 150- capacity hall contract awarded to Julius Berger will have walk ways, security post, hall conveniences, technical room and press briefing room.
Defending the approval, Mohammed said the council did so because smaller countries had befitting banquet halls in their seats of power.
The government had built a new Banquet Hall in 2003 ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and the hall is regularly renovated by Julius Berger.
